Facebook Pixel is a powerful analytics tool that allows you to track user actions on your website after interacting with ads on Facebook. It is a code that you add to your site to collect data about visitors and their actions. This helps you optimize ad campaigns, set up targeting, and increase conversions.
When a user interacts with your ad on Facebook and then visits your website, Facebook Pixel tracks this action. It collects data on which pages were visited, what actions were performed (such as purchases or registrations), and sends this information back to Facebook. This data helps you better understand your audience's behavior and optimize your ad campaigns.
Traditional UTM tags and trackers can provide basic traffic information, but Facebook Pixel offers far more capabilities:
With Facebook Pixel, you can set up various events, such as:
These events help you better understand how users interact with your website and what actions lead to conversions.
Setting up Facebook Pixel is a process that doesn't require deep programming knowledge and can be done fairly quickly. Many platforms, such as Tilda and Shopify, offer one-click integration. However, if you're unfamiliar with HTML or PHP and these terms seem complicated, it's best to contact the webmaster who built your site or the support team of your website builder. The entire process, from generating the code to installing it on your site, will take no more than three minutes.
Go to Facebook Ads Manager. Open the main menu (sandwich icon) and select the "Events Manager" section.
Event Manager Setup. If you're connecting Facebook Pixel for the first time, a setup dialog box will appear. If you've already used the Pixel, you'll land on a page where you can view existing pixels or add a new one by clicking the "Connect data" button.
Select the data source. You need to choose where the data will come from. This could be your website ("Web") or a mobile app ("App"). Note that "Offline" and CRM integration sections are only available after connecting to "Business Manager".
Name your Facebook Pixel. Come up with a name for the pixel so it's easier to track different campaigns later. You can use both Latin and Cyrillic characters.
Choose a connection method. You will be offered a choice between API Conversion and Pixel or just Pixel. If you don't plan on a complex API integration, choose the "Only Pixel" option.
Pixel installation method. In this menu, you can choose between two options: copying the code or using "Partner Integration". If your site is built on platforms like WordPress, Shopify, Joomla, or others from the partner list, simply copy and paste the ID into your ad account. If your site was developed manually or built using a website builder that doesn't support quick integration, choose "Install code manually".
Copying the pixel code. The generated code with your website's unique identifier will appear on the settings page. For convenience, there's a "Copy code" button.
Pasting the code on your website. Open the HTML code editor in your CMS or website builder. If your site was coded manually, you will need to edit the HTML documents yourself. Paste the pixel script into the <head> section before the closing </head> tag so that it works on all pages of your site.
Alternative option: paste the JavaScript code before the closing </header> tag, which is usually located in the main body of the website (between the <body> and </body> tags). This method is considered more reliable as adding it to the header may cause tracking issues.
Finishing the setup. The last step is configuring events. By default, all standard events are set up, but specific actions need to be configured manually.
To verify that your Facebook Pixel is working correctly, you can use the Meta Pixel Helper extension. This free tool is available for the Google Chrome browser and allows you to quickly determine whether the pixel is installed correctly on your website.
For convenient work with Facebook Pixel, you can use the Royal Pixel Telegram Bot. This bot allows you to quickly manage your pixels and receive notifications about events.
If you're working with the Magic Click affiliate network, follow these steps to install the pixel:
